Storing Toy Tips/Ideas

Ever wonder what to do with all the toys that are scattered from one end of the house to the other? I do! Well I have searched and found some great ideas and tips I wanted to share with you. I also came up with a couple of my own.

Hope this helps.....

First thing is to get rid of things

First, limit the number of toy your child owns. Avoid duplications. A child does not need two stacking rings, or two shape sorters. If your child ends up with a lot of duplications for some reason, consider donating the less favorite one to charities or selling it at a garage sale.

Be selective. Don't buy a toy just because it strikes your (or your child's) fancy. Only buy toys which are most beneficial to your child. See guide to choose child toys.

Don't buy toys which will take up a lot of indoor space and difficult to store If your children want big toys such as a play tunnel or a play house, make sure to buy the one which can be disassembled easily and stored compactly.

Stop giving toy as a gift.

Give your child something else instead, such as getaways to your child's favorite place.
Don't be a pack rat. Inspect your child's toy regularly and discard non-functional toys. Encourage your child to give away old toys. One trick to make your child realizes that she no longer plays with a particular toy is to put the toy away for a certain amount of time. If she does not come to you and asks, "Where is my ...", then it means that she doesn't care about that toy anymore. You can then ask her to give the toy away.

More tips

Now ideas for storage, here's just 3

1. Laundry Hampers are a great way to store toys. They do not occupy too much space, are readily available, and don't really stand out in the house. It is easy to scoop up toys and toss them into the laundry hampers where they can be stored until it is time to play with them again.

2. Empty plastic containers around the house are a handy way to store little things such as crayons, stickers, playdoh, bits and pieces, art and craft supplies and more.

3. Don't toss out those big packing boxes your kids big sized toys come in. They can be easily dressed up in colorful wrapping paper and made into a handy toy storage bin for your kid's toys. This can be a fun craft project idea for your kids to do too, and they will enjoy storing their toys in something which they have made themselves.

Also you can take those mesh veggie bad, usually onions or potatoes come in them. Hang them on your tubs faucet and put the kids toys in them. That way they will be out the way and will dry and not get that nasty build up on them...

And this is why...I did what I did

I have been wondering what to blog about, and it hit me. FlyBaby Surprise! I started this group not thinking about how it was going to work out but I need motivation, and by god getting it. It's grown in just a few days of starting. I am so grateful and am so excited to have each member as a part of something I created...It's little words like the one's you will read below that will keep me FLYing...
Thanks to you all! From the bottom of my ♥!

Jordan Mains: I ♥ FlyBaby Surprise because the thing I struggle with the most is not knowing what to start on. I will sit for hours dreading the work that needs done and trying to figure out where the best place to begin would be, when really I should ju...st get up and start somewhere. And with FlyBaby Surprise I can come on here, get a list of things to do and get it done. And if I want to do more I can come back and get more ideas of what to do. Before I know it my house is clean and tidy! =)

Heather Nations: I like FlyBaby Surprise because I don't have to make any decisions and it feels quick! The posts are also easier to keep up with than they are in Bingo. I feel completely lost in the Bingo, but here each post is personalized so I don't have... to figure out which "group" I belong to and I can also just post anytime without feeling like I am behind! Also, the conversation is entertaining! :) (If you use my comment, can you link to my blog please? http://softreflections.wordpress.com/ ) Thanks! :D

Rogue Chick: I LOVE Flybaby suprise because I can give others advice and get advice when i need it, it motivates me and gives me a small manageable list to do instead of one job that doesn't take a whole 15 mins, its more convenient than bingo coz you have 3 tasks and no screen refresh lol xxx

Flybaby Joann: I like Flybaby surprise because I'm not sitting here in my chair ripping my hair out, "saying what do I do?" "Where do I start?" I have people giving me ideas, so I don't have to think of them on my own, which is good because being lazy I will take any excuse in the world to just not do anything. Lol!

Krista Bullock Hunter
I so enjoy this "reverse bingo" type of flying. I say reverse bingo because I don't have to think, I just have to follow orders!! And IF I don't like or wanna follow those certain orders I can just wait till I see something I like. This is gonna be awesome on those days where I don't have a lot of time at home or am wiped out from a hard day at work. I can just come in here and say "tell me what to do!!" Fabulous

FlyBaby Surprise Members, This is for you!

thank you Pictures, Images and Photos

I just wanted to take the time to thank each and everyone of you for joining me in this adventure. I really didn't know how it would go at first, but WOW, I am FLYing again.

You have all made this possible for me and I love it! It's so simple and actually a very simple way to keep up with things I need to get done. I hope you are getting as much out of it as I am?

Keep up the good work and THANKS from the bottom of my heart♥!

I love to eat FROGS! You will too...

Wonder about frogs by CandyRougie

To eat frogs really frees me. They are like clutter in my brain. Marla says that we first have to get rid of our clutter then chores will be a piece of cake. To me it’s the same thing with frogs. They clutter my brain. I can’t think clearly with them. They are hidden but they are there and by time they grow and grow and grow. It’s a secret growing. Best is to eat them immediately by appearing when they are little. But too often I put them off.

It’s only 5 days ago I decided to start a new habit for me: Eating one frog a day

I got this idea on Wednesday because that’s our “Anti-Procrastinating-Day” and I always struggle with it. I just get overwhelmed. I simply put off too many things. Every Wednesday I thought this is the day… but… I did NOTHING. I thought I have to cut anti-procrastinating in smaller pieces. (The “Flaylady Way” like Marilyn says….lol) Presto my new habit was born and I started it on Thursday. Not a whole anti-procrastinating day for me but a small step every day. This works for me. Also I decided to public my new habit. Posting my frogs on the 40/50+ board makes me accountable. It’s a public commitment for me that leads me to really do my tasks. And who knows there might be others who like to join me.

We had some discussion on the name. Frog does not sound yummy. There was the idea of calling it a hot fudge sundae instead of. But this name might be tricky because of weight issues. We all know that gaining weight is easy for us 40/50+. And actually frog is a good name BECAUSE it is ugly. Frogs are things we DON’T like and therefore we put them off. Well, I do. It’s more like taking a bitter medicine I hesitate to take although I know that afterwards I will feel better.

So today is frog day #5 (just 5!) and guess what happened to me? My frogs are nearly gone. I feel so GOOD. Paperwork is done and lots of others. It’s a miracle. I begin to love to eat frogs. I even become the lady of the frogs!

FLYbaby Surprise

I find it hard for myself to get motivated at times and thought it would be fun for other fly ladies to give other flybabies 3 things to do. I know we already have the Bingo's, and other games that we can play but I thought by letting you help others with a "surprise list" would be a fun way to get things done....

Here's how it works.....
When I first started FLYing I started playing the Bingo games and it was fun, for a while. I just got wore out at times and my anxiety kicked in, cause it was a time thing....don't get me wrong it works but I just realized it's not for me all the time. So, I thought it would be interesting to have other FLYgals to help me make a list or suggestions that I could work on at my own pace. I hope you can use this simple step too. So, if you feel you need a start for the day just come here and ask for a "surprise list" and see what other suggest you to do.....use them all or pick the ones you feel most interested in doing....If you have any questions or need to vent from time to time, go for it! We all need to let it out...Thanks

Our Beautiful Satilla River

This is so sad to me that people are so unresponsible that they would leave something so beautiful in such a mess! (that others would die to have in their own back yards)

It's Time For The Family to Get On Board!

I just added a post on the FlyLady page on facebook. "I went to bed with a shiny sink, and be darn'd if it wasn't a mess when I got up" I asked for suggestions on how to handle this situation.

If anything it's these little things that causes me to throw my hands in the air and just quit! I know this is not the answer. So, from the advise that a FLYfriend suggested I thought I would share so maybe it will also help another FLYbaby.

Here's is her fix....
" I always find out who caused the mess and make them clean it up. Being persistent with the kitchen rules help. Even if the offender is still asleep in bed, I make him/her get up and clean it up! My dh is not immune to this either! Also, if no one is willing to "fess up, I issue a blanket punishment for all three of my kids. So far they have done their part in keeping the house tidy. They've learned that a clean house = happy mama!"

At this point I am will to try anything to get my family on board. I know there are more of you ladies that want to be a "Happy Mama". So for any of you FLYbabies that have other suggestion, PLEASE share...

Thanks, Mary Harper for your advise!

Let's Take FlyLady Pledge

FlyLady's Eleven Commandments
Keep your sink clean and shiny.

Get dressed every morning, even if you don’t feel like it. Don’t forget your lace-up shoes.

Do your morning and before bedtime routine everyday.

Don’t allow yourself to be sidetracked by the computer.

Pick up after yourself. If you get it out, put it away.

Don’t try to do two projects at once. ONE JOB AT A TIME.

Don’t pull out more than you can put back in one hour.

Do something for yourself everyday, maybe every morning and night.

Work as fast as you can to get the job done. This will give you more time to play later.

Smile even when you don’t feel like it. It is contagious. Make your mind up to be happy and you will be.

Don’t forget to laugh everyday. Pamper yourself, you deserve it.

It sounds so easy and it is, but why do I have a problem with these simple litte thing to get me motivated? I am taking a pledge and hope you will join me. If you are willing to take back what the flyLady is willing to give us for FREE then take the pledge with me. Comment if you are in...
Thanks, FlyFriends and let's start fLYing again...

I am Struggling to FLY!

Well peeps, I have not done a dang thing today. Well, I do take that back. I managed to paint a craft project. Does that count as FLYing? I sure hope so. I have also kept my sink shinning, but I have come to realizing that, that's about a every 20 minute job. I have a house full of people and they have to get on board with this FlyLady way.

My question is how? Do any of you have any suggestions on how to get the house hold involved? There are 7 people that are living in my home right now...I can't seem to keep anything clean and just the mere fact of cleaning or FLYing is not appealing to me at all. I get so discourage! It's driving me nuts. I also struggle with GAD (Generalized Anxiety Disorder) and just made a visit to the hospital the night I wrote my last blog. So needless to say I hardly done anything. I did have a few things on my TADA's and YES, I felt great but today is a different story.

I plan after writting this to do a "Triple Dog Dare". For those of you that doesn't know what that is, it's a way to get things done instead of playing the FLYlady Bingos's...it's easier and not on a time limit...Got the idea from another FLYgal. What you do is make a list of 3 things you need to do and do them...It's that easy...So here i go...

Any suggestions you have to help encourage other. PLEASE share in the comment section here....you never know how many you will help just by sharing your own struggles.
Til Then my FlyFriends!

Giving Back What She Has Given Me

When I first starting using The FLYladies way, I was loving myself more and more everyday. I loved the way my house looked, I loved the way it made me feel. I slowly but surely fell of the band wagon and here I am again feeling overwelmed with CHAOS!

It's so easy to to get caught up in everyday life issues, and before I knew it my house was getting the best of me again. I knew I had to do something. Then I just so happened to check my Facebook page and there it was, the Youtube video. It brought tears to my eyes to see how dedicated The FlYlady is, and how she has helped so may other's for free. I then made my mind up. I will learn to FLY again and will use the baby Steps one by one.

So, Thank you FLYlady for your encouragement and your FREE time to help me realize that house keeping is not just a chore, it's a way to help me see that The "FLY" in me deserves it.....
